Dental implant surgery is a procedure that replaces tooth roots with metal, screwlike posts and replaces damaged or missing teeth with artificial teeth that look and function much like real ones.
If you’re missing a single tooth, one dental implant can replace it.
If you’re missing all of your teeth, they can be replaced by full mouth dental implants.
Implant Placement
There are three general phases of implant treatment:
Implant placement:
The dentist surgically places the implant into the jaw. Healing: The bone grows around the implant and holds the implant in place. This can take up to several months.
Healing:
The bone grows around the implant and holds the implant in place.This can take up to several months.
Replacing your missing teeth:
The abutment is the fixture that is placed between the implant post and the crown, bridge, or denture. The abutment and crown (or bridge or denture) will be made to fit your mouth and your implant(s). Once completed, the man-made teeth are attached to the abutment.
